Creative Uses for Panopto
Panopto is a software that can be used to go beyond simply recording a lecture. Below are just a few ways that WSU faculty have used Panopto in their classes:
- Supplemental Class Materials: Record a demonstration or tutorial so students can watch it several times if necessary
- Assignment Details: Walk students through directions of an assignment or project
- Feedback: Provide students with audio/video feedback about their assignments and papers
- Class Summary: Record a weekly summary of the class and give an overview of future assignments
- Student Presentations: Have students record and upload presentations
Creative Uses for VoiceThread
VoiceThread is a cloud-based application that allows users to upload, share and discuss documents, presentations, images, audio files and videos. Below are just a few ways that WSU faculty have used VoiceThread in their classes:
- Media Critique: Using a video clip of media (movie, commercial, news clip, etc.), students analyze and critique
- Sign Language/Foreign languages: Students communicate using the new language; instructor and students provide feedback
- Studio Critique: Students submit examples of their work and the class offers critique using the commenting and drawing tool
- Student ePortfolio: Collect, select, reflect
